We happen to think adoption is amazing. So occasionally, we'd like to highlight friends who are in the process of adopting. Meet Bill, Jess and their two active boys, Will and Walt who live in the Big Apple. This wonderful family is pursuing the adoption of two Russian girls, Violetta and Ekaterina. In order to adopt them, they'll need to raise nearly $40,000. Consider advocating for these precious girls by praying and giving to help bring them home.

We were made aware of two special little girls who need a family. Their names are Violetta and Ekaterina, and they are ages 6 and 4. They live in an orphanage in Kazan, Russia (the area where Will and Walt were born), and are waiting for a mommy and daddy. Violetta is deaf and knows Russian sign language. Ekaterina is healthy and active.
This was not our original plan. We were going to adopt again in a few years. But when Jessica saw on Facebook that our previous adoption agency had two sisters on their waiting list, we couldn’t help but inquire. When she first showed the boys the girls’ photos, Jess just mentioned that they needed a mommy and daddy. “Why don’t we be their family?” said Will. Why not? we asked ourselves. Thus began a time of prayer and contemplation over where God was leading our family…and what the logistics would look like.
Though both from Connecticut originally, Jessica and Bill met in Brooklyn at Williamsburg Church in 2007. They enjoyed a very cliche New York City courtship involving lots of Central Park and pizza, and were married soon after. A few years and a few trips to Russia later, Will (now age 5) and Walt (now age 3) were brought into their lives through the miracle of adoption.
Bill currently works as a third grade teacher at PAVE Academy, primarily serving low-income minority students. He is an elder at Williamsburg Church. Jessica homeschools their two children, helps run a few homeschool co-ops, and does some freelance graphic design on the side. Their family is prayerfully pursuing the adoption of two sisters, Violetta (age 6) and Ekaterina (age 4), from the same region of Russia.
